The fuel cell monitors the battery’s state of charge at the remote site. It doesn’t run unless it needs to — no wasted fuel.

When the battery dips below a set threshold, the fuel cell quietly turns on, continuously replenishes the battery for as long as necessary and shuts back down when no longer needed.
