Residential

Quiet Power for Suburban Raleigh

Raleigh, NC

SOLUTION

1 Redde R1 Fuel Cell

OUTPUT

30kWh per day

We live close enough to our neighbors that a generator was never really an option. This runs so quietly, most of them don't know we have backup power at all.

Challenge

Quiet backup power for a suburban lot

Steve K.'s home sits on a suburban lot with houses close on either side, which ruled out a traditional generator from the start. The noise and exhaust would have been impossible to live with, and setback requirements for a large propane or diesel unit made permitting a headache. Steve K. still wanted real backup power for his family, not just a battery that could carry them for a few hours during the frequent grid outages in his area.

Solution

Whole-home power, neighbors none the wiser

A Redde R1 fuel cell generator gave Steve K. whole-home backup without the tradeoffs of a conventional generator. It runs quietly enough that most of his neighbors have no idea it's there, and its small footprint fit easily against the side of the house without violating setback rules.
